The Pattern

Puff Stitch

The puff stitch for this pattern ends with 9 loops on the hook. It is also finished with an extra chain-1 to close the stitch.

• • Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, pull up a loop (3 loops on the hook)

• • Yarn over again, insert hook in stitch, pull up a loop (5 loops on the hook)

• • Yarn over a third time, insert hook in stitch, pull up a loop (7 loops on the hook)

• • Yarn over a fourth time, insert hook in stitch, pull up a loop (9 loops on the hook)

• • Yarn over, and pull through all 9 loops on the hook.

• • Make 1 chain stitch.

Round 1: Into the magic ring, dc 10. Join the round with a slip stitch to the top of the first sc. (10 sts)

Round 2: Chain 2 (does not count as a stitch). Puff stitch into the same stitch and each stitch around. Join the round with a slip stitch into the first puff stitcNote: If you are wondering why I have 20 stitches at the end of round 2, remember that I’m ending each puff stitch with an extra chain 1.
