In the second of our furniture up-cycling series, we look at adding embellishments to painted pieces using papers and finishes. These techniques will add depth, character and a uniqueness to your painted pieces.
We will be covering two techniques in this one day workshop:
- Decoupage – this gluing technique uses napkins, special papers or fabric to decorate surfaces. The special glue works as a sealant and varnish to give better adhesion and finish that regular glue lacks.
- Crackalure – this glazing technique gives an appearance of ageing, as ‘cracks’ are developed on the surface and enhanced with coloured finishes.
Costs & Inclusions:
The course is €50 for one day and includes:
- All tuition from an experienced – and patient – tutor
- All paints and varnishes
- Lunch is included in the workshop
Each student will be working on a wooden tray in the workshop and the techniques learned can be applied to any fully painted piece of furniture. Students on the course get a 10% discount voucher to be used on fabrics/supplies bought in The Craft Cabin.
