In this more advanced patchwork class, you will delve deeper into more sophisticated patchwork techniques. In the patchwork blanket – advanced class we will be particularly focusing on cutting and piecing and how to work with more detailed patterns and blocks. We have chosen a challenging yet achievable design that you will work on in colours of your choice.
This class is for a proficient sewer who has dabbled in patchwork but is looking to improve their skills and learn techniques to carry them onto other projects. Ideal for those who have completed our Learn To Patchwork – Jelly Roll Blanket class.

- How to cut out and layout the pattern
- How to create blocks and assemble
- How to work with backing fabric and assemble
- Finishing touches
- Further patterns and project ideas
- Lots of tips and hints
Day one will focus on cutting. We’ll be studying the pattern and working on getting all the materials cut for the front. Day two we’ll focus on the basics and recap the essential techniques on patchwork. From using tools, seam allowances and handy tips, we’ll then be ready to start piecing everything together. Day three will focus on assembly and constructing the entire front piece and preparing the backing. The final day we’ll work on assembling the whole blank and look at finishing techniques. We will finish on a session on other patterns and blocks to try.
Students are expected to work on their projects between classes.
