In this introductory course, we will be using jelly rolls which are pre-cut strips of coordinating fabric that will be used to create your simple patchwork block pattern. These will be paired with coordinating fabric of your choice.
This class will cover the following:
- How to coordinate fabric
- How to cut out and layout fabric
- How to assemble and create blocks
- How to use wadding
- How to work with backing fabric and assemble
- How to edge with bias binding
- Lots of tips and hints
On day one, we will start with some patchwork theory and then practice with measuring and cutting. We’ll then work on assembling the strips and converting them into blocks. In between classes students will be asked to finish their front piece. On day two we will work on preparing to assemble, using wadding, sewing together, using bias binding and various styles of quilting.
Students need to be proficient on a sewing machine.
